Soooo, I decided to try something out of the norm and play with some sculpey. I've never sculpted anything before so it was a whole new way of thinking and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought my snail character from my student film would be a good subject for my first attempt. It took alot of concentration and patience, particularly the eyes(which I still don't think look quite right) but it was fun, I think I'll sculpt more of my characters :)
Now I just have to figure out how to bake and paint this....
Baking is easy! The box gives directions based on thickness. Add a few more minutes if you have an old oven. You need to keep an eye on them to make sure they don't start to crisp up on you.
ReplyDeleteHey - looks like you broke into the sculpey! WeeeeeehhhHH!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Great blog sir. Loads of great work here.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit tricky since he's got little eye stalks. It looks like something I would do in increments. I have a little tabletop oven sorta thing [cheap but works awesome]. I set it to 350 I think, it says on the box, and do 5 minute increments with smaller pieces. It will still be a little gummy coming out but once it cools it starts to harden. :)
