Dogs Are Fun
Some sketches I did while watching televised dog shows. I like to watch them whenever I get a chance, it's a fun opportunity to see a variety of unusual shapes and personalities. I think the husky won this particular competition.

"Not Just Cartoons, Nicktoons!"
Well, I'd heard rumors that a coffee table book was in the works but didn't know what was going to be in it. Just happened to come across it in the bookstore last week and it has lots of art from talented Nickelodeon artists and I'm honored to find some of my concept art included from Tak and the Power of Juju. Check it out if you get a chance, it's easy to spot with it's slime green cover ;P

Meet Stanley
Um, he's some kind of multi-purpose vacuum-drill robot thingy.....actually I did this in a design class offered at Nick recently. We were supposed to design a character based on electronic parts and this is what I came up with. It was a really fun class that pushed us out of our comfort zones and gave me some more ideas to use when designing characters.

Lil' Cowgirl...Revisited
I did a version of this a while back that I was never quite satisfied with. I got a bit burned out at the time and felt I should let it be for a while....until recently when I decided to re-open it again and look at it fresh which gave me some new ideas. So here's the updated version....thought she needed some glasses : )

Tak and the Power of Juju
Hey everybody, just a little shameless promotion but the show I've been working on for over a year premieres Friday, August 31st at 8pm on Nickelodeon. Check your listings. I helped design the characters and worked alongside many talented people. It's been a long time in the making and exciting to finally premiere-hope you enjoy : )
P.S.: Here's a nifty review...

Sunflower Bride
I did this for the recent SCBWI contest mostly to try to rekindle my illustration skills which I've been missing and it was a fun way to unwind after a long day at work.

Fennec Fox
Felt I needed a change so I switched to a watercolor sketchbook which I'm enjoying - it gives me more freedom to play around with color. Here's a little gouache color sketch:

My Roommate
Silly doodles of my silly kitty.
By the way the show I've been working on for the past year finally has it's own little page on the Nick website here. There's not a bunch there yet but it shows one of several interstitial commercials we've done and a peek at some of the main characters (I designed Jeera btw). One of the coolest parts of working on Tak for me was getting to work with a great crew that included many fellow Fullerton alumns!

Pretty In Pink?
The theme of this weeks narrative session was 80's New Wave which I guess explains the tutu and pink tights....

Unlucky Cow
Here's an incidental character I did for Catscratch. Blink and you'll miss her-she only appears on screen for about two seconds before being smashed by a giant oceanliner....being an incidental can be hazardous....

WhiteFoot
Here's some more drawings of my African wild dog fellow. A while back I'd picked up a big book on African wildlife in the bargain section at Barnes and Noble and I love flipping through it and looking at all the critters. There was only one photo of these guys in there but it was enough to inspire me. I decided to slim him up a bit more, I really like the lankiness of wild dogs. Their splotchy markings and big ears are fun to play with design-wise.
BTW, thanks to everyone who have left comments, it's always fun hearing from you guys : )

New Year, New Sketchbook
Scribbles of a little girl I saw in the park.... kinda messy, but it's the first page of a brand new sketchbook and that's always exciting.
